Anders Paalzow

Anders Paalzow is rector of the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. Trained as an economist in Sweden and the U.S., Paalzow has lived in Latvia for the past thirteen years. Paalzow talks about the strengths of Latvia’s educational system and the high value placed on education in the Baltics. He also discusses why Riga is an attractive destination for European students and what Latvia can teach the rest of Europe.

Gabriel Jackson and the Riches of the Baltic Choral Tradition

“Imagine a song so special that everybody knows it by heart, so beautiful that everybody loves it with a passion, and that every five years over 10 000 people gather to sing to hundreds of thousands more.”

Daina Ruduša, "Riga 2014" project coordinator, Latvian Institute, 07.05.2013

Independence Day Sentiments

Latvia celebrates its National day twice a year, on November 18 and May 4. Why so? Do we have a stronger love for our land than other nations? Maybe, but that is definitely not the reason.

Karina Pētersone, Director, Latvian Institute, 03.05.2013
