Youth choir "Kamēr...", conducted by Jānis Liepiņš, was announced as the winner of the 2013 European Grand Prix for Choral Singing in the Italian city of Arezzo yesterday, August 28. "Kamēr..." is the only Latvian choir to win the prestigious award, and it has won it twice - first time in 2004 when the choir was conducted by Māris Sirmais, and this year.

The annual European Grand Prix for Choral Singing is a top-level choral competition in which five to six international award-winning choirs participate. "Kamēr..." participated in the 2013 European Grand Prix as the winner of the Bela Bartok International Choir Competition in Hungary's Debrecen last year. Also participating in the competition were choirs from Slovenia, Ukraine, Indonesia and Argentina.

"Kamēr..." performed opuses by Arvo Pärt, Vytautas Miškinis, Robert Lucas Pearsall, Claudio Monteverdi, Karin Rehnqvist and Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds.

The European Grand Prix for Choral Singing closed the 2012/2013 concert season for youth choir "Kamēr..." on a highly positive note.
