Since 2008,  “The Great Clean-up” project aims to make Latvia the greenest and cleanest place on earth. Each year in a certain date people gather to tidy up their grounds, collect trash and, perhaps, plant some greens. In 2018 as part of the Centenary of Latvia (LV100) programme also a World Clean-up Day will be organised on September 15.

People in 150 countries will stand up against the global trash problem and clean up waste, making it the biggest positive civic action the world has seen. The campaign will begin in New Zealand at 10 AM local time and will follow the Sun throughout the day, covering all 24 time zones, ending in the Hawaiian Islands.

Let’s Do It! World is a civic-led mass movement that began in Estonia in 2008 when 50,000 people united together to clean up the entire country in just five hours. Since then, Let’s Do It! has spread this model—one country in one day—around the world. To date, nearly 120 countries and 20 million people have joined to clean up illegal waste.

Let’s Do It! has never been only about cleaning up waste. They also aim to unite the global community, raise awareness and implement true change to achieve a final goal – a clean and healthy planet.
