The European Festival of Latvian Culture took place in Brussels from June 18 to 21.
The festival was part of the Latvian Presidency's Culture Program, and lasted three days. The event's honorary patrons were Latvian ex-president Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga and European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis.
The festival brought together different generations of the Latvian diaspora performing in choirs, dance and folk groups and other fields of art, with around 1,000 participants from a number of European countries and beyond. It was a celebration of Latvia's first Presidency of the EU Council in the spirit of the Latvian Song and Dance Celebrations and demonstrated Latvian cultural traditions to staff at the EU institutions and the Belgian people.
