On April 5, 2016, Latvian writer’s work reading was held at the U.S. Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Andrew Singer, Pennsylvania State University, Director of literary journal and radio Trafika Europe and a poet moderated the discussion.
Latvia was represented by Juris Kronbergs - poet/translator, Liāna Langa - poet, Nora Ikstena - prose-writer and Margita Gailīte - literary translator. The four authors are nationally recognized and have published periodicals and books in Latvian, English and other languages.
The discussion “Latvian Literature on the Verge” was organized by the U.S. Library of Congress’ European Division in partnership with the Embassy of Latvia in Washington. It took place in the remarkable European Reading Room at the Thomas Jefferson Building.
