During a meeting with the organizers of the "Riga Summit 2015", Bērziņš was informed about the agenda and objectives of the summit, and agreed to become the patron of the summit.
The summit will be held on April 27-29, it is one of the associated events of Latvia's Presidency at the Council of the European Union.
During the meeting, Bērziņš and representatives of the "Riga Summit 2015" organizers, Andrejs Vasiļjevs and Rihards Kalniņš from the IT company "Tilde", discussed ways fostering multilingual digital single market in Europe and support for small languages during the information age.
"Riga Summit 2015" will bring together European public and private sector representatives, businessmen, technology developers and researchers whose work deals with language technology research and development of innovative solutions for the EU.
The event is organized by the European Commission, European research network META-NET, European language technology association "LT-Innovative" and language technology company "Tilde".
At the summit, stakeholders will develop a combined strategy, identify goals, and initiate concrete actions to bring about this crucial vision for a digital single market without language barriers, which is instrumental for empowering Europe in the global world.
